Geocoins
Applewomyn 2006 - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (September 2006)
This was my first geocoin. The front features a tree -- a common shelter for caches. Whether a cacher finds a tree canopy a hindrance to his/her GPS reception or a source of respite from the sun during a summer hunt, most probably agree that planting a tree is good for the environment.
FACT: Over the course of 50 years, a single tree can:
-
generate $31,250 of oxygen
-
provide $62,000 worth of air pollution control
-
recycle $37,500 worth of water, and
-
control $31,500 worth of soil erosion
The back of the coin features a quote suggesting tolerance, which is stamped on a trademark apple. The coin has a satin nickel finish and is 1.5" in diameter and is trackable on geocaching.com. The Applewomyn 2006 coin shared an icon with the "Little Hopper" micro coin. There were approximately 150 minted.
Variations on this coin were:
-
XLE No Enamel Version (September 2006) - 5 minted
-
Fall Colors Version (October 2006) - 140 minted

Muggles Watching Coin & Pin Set - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (December 2006)

Have you ever hunted one of those very public caches where you just can't escape the eyes of curious muggles long enough to peek for the find? This coin was designed to recognize the role muggles play by adding an extra challenge to the sport of geocaching! The next time you check your map, tie your shoe or feign a cell phone call to elude suspicion, pull this coin out of your bag and place it in the cache!
This coin is trackable, features a custom icon and has glow in the dark "eyes". It was originally sold bundled with a Muggles Watching lapel pin. The coin measures 1.5" and has a hard enamel finish. The total mint was 250 coins, all in black nickel finish.
The Caching Pill - SOLD OUT
The Caching Pill - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (December 2006)
If subjecting your friends and loved ones to endless accounts of your caching mania has started to interfere with your relationships, it's time to take the doc's advice and get back on the pill. Yes folks, there IS a cure for the common caching bug*!
The Caching Pill coins came packaged in a prescription bottle that could be reused as a micro cache. Each set contained three coins: one coin to keep, one to trade and one to set free! The coins are trackable and feature a custom icon. The gold finish coin measures 1.75" in length by .75" in width and has a raised hard enamel finish with epoxy coating. Total mint was 166 sets (three coins each).
* Headache, frustration, cabin fever, or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes (e.g., agitation, confusion), lightheadedness, unexplained urge to cache. A serious allergic reaction to the Caching Pill is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Variations on this coin were:
-
A LE artists version (silver finish) featuring a set of three coins: blue/yellow, red/yellow and purple/green. There were only 18 of the LE sets made.
-
A "refill" was issued in December 2007 via The Caching Place. The refill contained three new color variations with a new copper finish. There were 150 regular edition (copper) sets and 17 LE (antique silver) sets made featuring special color combos.
Cache Cow - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (February 2007)

This coin was created one night during a caffeine induced state of goofiness. I entertained myself and couldn't resist a cheesy pun on this one. The hard enamel coin was minted in both a 1.5" regular size and a 1.0" micro and is trackable with an icon. There were 500 micros and 250 regular size of these minted and they debuted at CoinFest 2007 where they were sold in sets of three (one regular size and two micros) along with a mooing toy.

I have a few of these out traveling with the following goal: This little micro aspires to visit rural areas, particularly those where the air is fragrant with the aroma of eau de bovine! Photos of the micro coin visiting the farm are much appreciated!

If you happen to find one in a cache, keep it moving!
Stringalights Personal Coin - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (March 2007)

The quote, “He reached in and put a string of lights around my heart” was the inspiration for the caching name “Stringalights” – a South Carolina cacher new to the fun in 2006. The quote comes from an independent film, Desert Hearts (1986), that takes place in Reno, NV where one of the main characters works in a casino. This personal coin pays homage to the film, a favorite of Stringalights, and carries with it a message of love and hope that each and every one of us finds someone to light up our hearts!
The 1.5" coin was minted in shiny silver with an imitation hard enamel finish and is trackable with icon. The total mint was 250 coins.
Hoppin' Cousin #1 - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Caching Place (March 2007)
He may not be as celebrated as the Easter Bunny, but this little hopper loves to travel far and wide while delivering smiles all the same! A distant cousin of the original Little Hopper, this coin features an its own custom icon and is trackable on geocaching.com.
The Hoppin' Cousin #1 coin was sold in sets and included (1) regular 1.5" coin and (1) micro 1" coin. The coins are made of black nickel with an imitation hard enamel finish - both are trackable and share an icon. The total mint was 500 coins (250 of each size).
Cachosphere - SOLD OUT
Minted by: The Geocoin Store (October 2007)
Available in two finishes, both 1.5" in diameter - the regular edition has a silver finish and has purple hard enamel. The LE edition is black nickel with yellow hard enamel. Total regular edition mint was 200. Only 20 of the LE were made and were only available by trade. The coin is trackable and has a custom icon.

A v2 of the coin was issued in late 2009 by The Geocoin Store.
Pursuit of Caching (original) -
SOLD OUT
Minted by: Hogwild Stuff (January 2008)

I designed this coin in early 2007 after considering a series of micros done in the shape of the trivial pursuit "pie" pieces. I opted instead to do this coin using the pie as the custom icon. It was difficult to come up with short questions that would fit within the dimensions of the design, but I managed to find them!

Available in two finishes, both at a size of 2"x1.25" in diameter - the regular edition (shown) has a black nickel finish with hard enamel. The LE edition is has a gold finish and is also hard enamel. Total regular edition mint was 200. Only 80 of the LE were made and and a small number of those were sold in a set with the RE coin on the Hogwild website. The coin is trackable and has a custom icon.
Applewomyn 2008 - SOLD OUT
Minted independently - (February 2008)

Originally conceived as a small Pathtag design, I decided to make this one into a coin. The idea was to make a coin much like the plastic toys with a maze and ball under a plastic shield. The goal was to be able to manipulate the ball through the maze by tilting the coin around. As it turned out, production of such a coin was just too expensive to be worthwhile. Still, the coin features a legitimate maze in the shape of an apple.

Only 100 of these coins were produced. The coin is 1.75" in diameter and has a polished nickel finish. The coin is not trackable, but does feature consecutive numbering (001 - 100).
Pursuit of Caching Pie - SOLD OUT
Minted independently - (August 2008)

After creating the original Pursuit of Caching coin in 2007, I really wanted to follow up with the pie coin. Originally, I thought of doing a website for this coin where the base would be sold, but then the individual pie pieces would have to be earned via an online trivia style game. Having a lack of free time to tackle this project, I decided to go forward with the coin and offer it as a complete set. The final coin is 2" in diameter and features magnets that hold the individual, removable pie pieces to the base. The coins are trackable and feature their own icon.
The total mint was 250 (225 regular edition and 25 LEs). The regular edition coins are done in with different color bases as follows:

- 38 Blue (SOLD OUT)
- 38 Green (SOLD OUT)
- 38 Yellow (SOLD OUT)
- 37 Pink (SOLD OUT)
- 37 Brown (SOLD OUT)
- 37 Orange (SOLD OUT)

The LE coin is bronze with no enamel on the base. There are only 25 of the LE coin and it could not be ordered - every 10th coin I sent out was an LE so it was distributed at random!
Trolling for Caches - SOLD OUT
The Geocoin Store - (August 2008)

What can I say - I was in the mood for a fun coin and this one just came to me. The coin is 1.5" at the widest point and will be produced in black nickel. The coin was sold at The Geocoin Store.
